Deductible and insurance: what you really pay

Many people compare two rental companies by adding rental and excess. This is a misreading: one is a price, the other is a deposit that is returned to you.
The security deposit is returned
It is blocked for the duration of the rental, then returned in full after the return and inspection of the equipment. It is only retained in the event of breakage, theft, loss or damage — and only up to what the repair or replacement actually costs.

Breakage and theft insurance
For cameras and drones, it is included in the rental price, without any procedure or supplement. For DJ and sound equipment, it is invoiced separately, on a dedicated line in the quote and invoice.
It does not replace the deductible: in the event of a covered loss, it is the deductible that remains your responsibility, and the insurance covers the rest.
What is never covered
No rental insurance covers everything, and it is better to know this before than after: loss of equipment, theft without break-in or assault, serious negligence - immersion, liquid spilled on a turntable -, breakdowns, purely cosmetic damage and consumables (memory cards, filters, screen protectors).
The details appear in article 9 of our general rental conditions. We prefer it to be read before booking rather than discovered after an incident.
