DJI Osmo Pocket 4P rental: the pocket gimbal camera, with dual lenses

The DJI Osmo Pocket 4P on Fox Rider is a pocket camera mounted on a 3-axis mechanical gimbal: the nacelle absorbs jolts when walking, running or cycling, where software stabilization reduces the frame. The “P” is not decorative: it is the dual-purpose model, distinct from the Osmo Pocket 4. DJI never names this product “Osmo Pocket 4 Pro”, even if, on the accessories side, the label “Pocket 4 Pro” does indeed refer to the same device.

Two lenses, one 1-inch sensor

The wide-angle covers 20 millimeters equivalent and opens at f/2.0; the second lens goes up to 60 millimeters and opens to f/1.8 – this is the ratio designated by the “3X” engraving on the optics, next to the “1-INCH” engraving on the sensor. DJI announces a 1-inch CMOS on the wide-angle and 17 dynamic stops, D-Log 2 recording and slow motion that goes up to 4K at 240 frames per second.

We only rent the full box — the Creator Combo, which is the same carton as the Vlog Combo — and the DJI Mic Mini 2 wireless microphone kit, the Osmo FrameTap, the Osmo mini tripod and the Osmo Pocket 4 fill light are in the package, included.

What the gimbal changes

3-axis mechanical stabilization: it is the gimbal that absorbs the jolts, not software reframing.
ActiveTrack 8.0 keeps the subject in the frame, zooming up to 12x.
2.0 inch screen at 1000 nits, readable outdoors.

Anyone filming while walking, running or cycling: the 3-axis mechanical gimbal absorbs jolts and ActiveTrack 8.0 keeps the subject in frame. The 20 mm covers wide shots, the 60 mm portraits; the wireless mic in the kit is meant for talking to camera. DJI publishes no water-resistance rating.

What is the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P battery life, and can the battery be swapped?

DJI quotes 210 minutes, measured at 25 °C in 1080p at 24 fps with Wi-Fi and screen off. The lithium-ion battery is built in and not removable: there is no dual charger, but a USB-C PD cable and a 25 W fast charger are in the kit. Real-world battery life has not yet been measured on our own unit.

What is the difference between the Osmo Pocket 4P, the Osmo Pocket 4 and the “Pocket 4 Pro”?

The “P” marks the dual-lens model, distinct from the Osmo Pocket 4: a 20 mm f/2.0 wide-angle on a 1-inch CMOS sensor and a 60 mm f/1.8 for portraits. DJI never calls this product “Osmo Pocket 4 Pro”, even though the “Pocket 4 Pro” label on accessories refers to the same device.

How many days can I rent the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P, and is insurance included?
