First vlog: what equipment to rent to start?

The question “which camera to start with” almost always hides another question: how long will I last. Renting for a few days does both, and costs a fraction of buying.
Start with a single camera
A first vlog does not require two boxes. He asks to finish a video. Take a camera, film for three days, edit the result: you will then know what you are really missing — and it will not be what you thought.

Sound before image
A viewer forgives an average image, never an inaudible sound. If you have to choose between going upscale on the camera or adding a mic, add the mic.
Which is useless at first
Filters, stabilizers and specialty accessories will wait. They address problems you haven't yet encountered — and each adds one more handling when it comes to filming.
Rent on a real outing, not at home
Test the equipment in the conditions where you will be filming: outside, while walking, with noise. That's where we discover what's in the way, never on a desk.
Our comparisons will help you choose between two similar models: see GoPro HERO 11 or HERO 12 and Insta360 X4 or X5 .
