Filming your business in Lyon: half a day is enough

Filming your restaurant, shop or gym takes half a day, not a week, and is done with a single camera. What takes time isn't the filming: it's knowing which shots actually work. Here are eight of them, in order, with the time slot that goes with them and the legal rule that half of traders discover too late.

The eight plans that really help

  • The facade, fixed shot of a few seconds: this is the thumbnail of the video and the mark of the customer who is looking for your door.
  • Walking entry, from the sidewalk to the interior, in one continuous movement.
  • The empty room, before opening, lit as it will be in use.
  • The professional gesture, tightly framed: the hands setting a plate, adjusting a bicycle, wrapping a purchase.
  • Detail of the product, motionless, on a neutral background.
  • The portrait, you face the camera, three sentences, no more.
  • The room in use, with movement — it’s this plan that makes you want to enter.
  • The output, reverse shot of the input, which closes the sequence.

This order is not decorative: it places the demanding plans while you are available, and saves the service for the end, when it no longer depends on you. This is also the logic of our filming preparation checklist.

Any recognizable person in your video must have given their consent for the broadcast of their image: this is the right to image, based on article 9 of the Civil Code. A sign “establishment being filmed” at the entrance provides information, but does not constitute consent for commercial use.

Three practical consequences. Film the room in use by framing the silhouettes from the back, three-quarter rear view or blurring the background. Have recognized customers sign written authorization. And for your employees, the authorization must be separate from the employment contract: a signed contract never implies consent to be filmed. Film vertically, but not just any way

These videos will end up on a phone, in a 9:16 format. The classic trap is to shoot in 16:9 and then reframe: you then throw away half the definition of the file and systematically cut off heads or hands. Frame vertically from the moment you take the shot, and keep some air above the subject to leave room for subtitles and the social network interface.

Equipment and logistics in Lyon

A stabilised, hand-held body that can also frame tight: that is exactly the profile of the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P, a pocket camera with a 3-axis mechanical gimbal, a 1-inch sensor and a 3x telephoto lens, available to rent since 27 August 2026. Last and most cost-effective tip: shoot for six posts, not one. The decor is in place, the lighting is adjusted, the authorization is signed. Five additional videos only cost the time to record them.
