Osmo Pocket 4P or Osmo Pocket 4: do not confuse

The Osmo Pocket 4P and the Osmo Pocket 4 aretwo different devicesand the 4P is the one that carries the dual objective. Third piece of information, the most useful of all:DJI never names this product "Osmo Pocket 4 Pro"The name does appear in articles, videos, and accessory lists—at DJI, the corresponding address leads to a page not found, but the accessory manufacturer PolarPro even goes so far as to sell a set of filters labeled "for DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro." In other words, this name does indeed exist commercially; it's simply not the manufacturer's. Here's how to avoid being misled, and why it matters when renting.
The three names, and which one refers to what?
| Employee name | Does it exist? | What this refers to |
|---|---|---|
| DJI Osmo Pocket 4 | Yes | The model without the dual lens |
| DJI Osmo Pocket 4P | Yes | The dual-lens model: 1-inch sensor and 60mm equivalent telephoto lens |
| DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro | Not at DJI | A term used by media outlets and prop manufacturers; it refers to the 4P |
The letter "P" is not an abbreviation for "Pro" that can be expanded at will: it is the full commercial name chosen by DJI. Writing "Pro" instead produces a reference not found in the manufacturer's catalog, and this is precisely what sends buyers to the wrong pages — even if, on the accessories side, the label "Pocket 4 Pro" does indeed refer to the same device.

How to recognize a 4P in five seconds
Look at the facade. The 4P doortwo objectivesWhereas the Osmo Pocket 4 only has one: a 20mm equivalent wide-angle lens in front of a 1-inch sensor, and a 60mm equivalent telephoto lens in front of a second sensor. This is the visual signature of the model, visible in any properly framed photo, including a used car ad.
This verification is better than reading a product description. A seller might use the wrong ad title; a front panel with two engraved lenses, however, cannot. Make it a habit to ask for a front-facing photo before any private purchase, and be wary of ads that only show the closed body or packaging: on a marketplace, a clear front-facing photo is worth more than an ad title, and it will help you avoid a dispute that rarely ends in your favor.
What confusion really costs
- Incompatible accessories. Cages, adapters, and filters attach to a specific housing. An accessory purchased for the wrong model must be returned.
- Tutorials that don't match. A mode or menu shown on one model may be absent from the other, and you spend an evening looking for a function that doesn't exist in your device.
- A flawed comparison. Comparing the price of one model with the characteristics of another inevitably leads to a poor purchase decision.
This case is far from isolated. At GoPro, the generations are so similar that we had to write an entire article to distinguish between them: HERO 11 or HERO 12, which one to rent. Two almost identical cases, a common sensor, and yet very real differences in color profile and battery life.

What truly distinguishes the 4P
Beyond the name, the difference lies in two hardware elements. The main sensor, measuring 1 inch, is significantly larger than those found in action cameras, whose sensors are measured in fractions of an inch, like that of the GoPro HERO 12 Black . More surface area means more light collected, resulting in a cleaner image when daylight fades.
The second lens, with a 60mm equivalent focal length compared to the main lens's 20mm, offers a significantly longer focal length: the subject is framed tightly without you having to move forward and without digital cropping. The DJI also advertises "up to 12x zoom" when combining the two lenses and digital cropping. Add the 3-axis mechanical gimbal and the touchscreen, and you have the complete picture of a camera designed for filming someone speaking, not for being strapped onto a helmet. This clarification avoids disappointment: the image definition is the same as on the Osmo Pocket 4 — the advantage of the 4P lies in its second lens and its dynamic range, not its resolution.

Before renting or buying, check three things
The exact name as written on the product page, the presence of both lenses in the photos, and the advertised price are all important. To buy, the DJI store only lists the Standard Combo, at €599 (price recorded on August 19, 2026); a second package, the Vlog Combo — also sold under the name Creator Combo, it is the very same box — is listed by retailers for around €690. It is better equipped than the Standard: that is the one to aim for if you are buying. A price significantly different from these benchmarks should raise a red flag, in either direction.
On the rental side, the question does not arise: we rent out the Creator Combo, that is to say the Vlog Combo, and never the Standard Combo. Its accessories — DJI Mic Mini 2 wireless microphone kit, Osmo FrameTap, Osmo mini tripod, Osmo Pocket 4 fill light — are included in the booking, at no extra cost and with no box to tick.
At our place, the Osmo Pocket 4P has been in the park since 27 August 2026. You can now rent the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P. We haven't had it in our hands yet, and we won't pretend otherwise: this page deals with a naming issue, not a test. If you want to compare the approaches, the Insta360 X5and theHERO 12cover the other two families of compact cameras — current daily rates on their product sheets.
On the practical side — deposit, duration, collection on site in Lyon or delivery — everything is gathered in Renting a DJI Osmo Pocket 4P: frequently asked questions.
