Osmo Pocket 4P: Standard or Vlog Combo?

A single question separates the two Osmo Pocket 4P offers: will you record speech? If so, the Vlog Combo, sold for €689 compared to €599 for the Standard Combo, is justified. If you're shooting footage and the sound will be replaced in editing, the €90 difference doesn't buy anything you need. That reasoning applies to buying: on the rental side the question is already settled, because what leaves our shelves is the Creator Combo — DJI's other commercial name for the Vlog Combo — accessories included. The complete reasoning can be read in five minutes.

What the €90 gap covers
For all manufacturers, a pack labeled “vlog” or “creator” follows the same logic: the case is identical, it is the accessories that change, and they almost always revolve around three needs — capturing the voice, holding the camera, putting it down. The box films exactly the same in both boxes.
This is a decisive nuance when you hesitate. No one buys or rents a superior package for a better image: it is the same. We pay for less preparation time and accessories that we won't have to look for the day before the shoot.

The question that really decides
A pocket camera's built-in microphone picks up what's around it, not what you say. At one meter, in a street or a room, it brings the circulation, ventilation and echo of the room to the same level as your voice. No adjustments make up for this in editing: the noise is recorded in the same track as the speech.
| Your shoot | The pack that is enough |
|---|---|
| Ambient shots, music added to the montage | Standard |
| You speak in front of the camera, outside or in the room | Vlog |
| Interview with a customer, a craftsman, a guest | Vlog |
| Silent product filming, voiceover recorded afterwards | Standard |
| You don't know yet | Vlog, and you may not open anything |
We detail this sound problem, microphone by microphone, in the sound of an action camera, external microphone and wind. The conclusion has been the same for two years: it is the sound that causes a video to be abandoned, not the image.

What the rental changes in the calculation
When buying, the €90 gap is permanent: you pay once and for all for accessories you may use three times. When renting, that gap simply does not exist. We only rent the full box — the Creator Combo, which is the same carton as the Vlog Combo — and the DJI Mic Mini 2 wireless microphone kit, the Osmo FrameTap, the Osmo mini tripod and the Osmo Pocket 4 fill light are in the package, included, at €0. In other words: renting gives you the better-equipped kit without paying the €90 difference, and without renting a microphone on the side.
Another point that manufacturer comparisons ignore: our packs already include what new boxes almost never include. On the GoPro HERO 12 and Insta360 X5 , the 1 TB microSD card, the dual charger, the 25 W fast charger and the rigid carrying case are in the package, at no extra charge. The difference between two manufacturer offers is therefore never carried over as is to a rental.
The three classic reasoning errors
- Take the higher pack “for image quality”. The sensor, lens and gimbal are identical. You will pay for accessories, never pixels.
- Take the basic pack then buy the microphone separately. This is often more expensive than the difference, and you have to check compatibility instead of rotating.
- Choose before having written what to film. Three lines of filming plan answer the question faster than any comparison.

Where we stand, and what we don't know yet
The DJI Osmo Pocket 4P has been in our park since 27 August 2026. We haven't tested it yet: the above is purchase reasoning, not filming feedback. On the rental side, the catalogue item is the Creator Combo — DJI's other commercial name for the Vlog Combo, the very same carton: its product page is open, with the current daily rate, a €200 security deposit and the contents of the package listed accessory by accessory, as for the rest of the fleet. The accessories that make up that box — DJI Mic Mini 2 wireless microphone kit, Osmo FrameTap, Osmo mini tripod, Osmo Pocket 4 fill light — are included in the package at €0; there is nothing to tick and nothing to add when booking. The Standard Combo, on the other hand, is not in the catalogue: we do not offer the lighter box.
If your filming falls before this date, the rule above remains applicable to the current fleet: a HERO 12 can accommodate a media module with microphone input, and the Insta360 X4 can be rented by the day — current rate on its product sheet — if the challenge is to cover a wide area rather than talking in front of the camera.
One last pointer, valid whatever the pack: the real duration of a shoot is almost always longer than what we imagine. This is where we lose money, rarely on €90 worth of accessories.
For the practical side — deposit, duration, pickup in Lyon or delivery — it is all gathered in Renting a DJI Osmo Pocket 4P: frequently asked questions.
