Security deposit: why 100, 150 or 250 €

An excess is not a price: it is a security deposit, blocked for the duration of the rental and returned in full upon return. The useful question is therefore not “how much does it cost” but “how much should I immobilize, and until when”. Here's the answer, device by device.
The three levels
| Security deposit | Affected equipment |
|---|---|
| €100 | GoPro HERO 11 Black, Insta360 X4 |
| €150 | GoPro HERO 12 Black, Insta360 X5, Fujifilm instax WIDE Evo, DJI Mini 4 Pro |
| €250 | DJI Mini 5 Pro, Pioneer XDJ-RX3, pair of Technics SL-1210 MK2 |
That's the whole grid. It is read directly in the catalog, and it is exactly the same one that feeds article 5.1 of our general rental conditions: the written clause and the amount actually collected cannot diverge.

Why three levels and not just one
A single amount would have been easier to display, and unfair in both directions. A single deductible of €250 would result in two and a half times the immobilization of a HERO 11 rented for a weekend. A one-time deductible of €100 would not cover the value of a pair of turntables. The level follows the replacement value of the material, nothing else.
It did not change when we abandoned, in July 2026, the old system “with or without insurance option” which doubled each line and made reading illegible. One product, one amount.
No, there is no deductible of €500, €1,000 or €2,000
The figure is circulating, including in old internal notes that we have corrected. It is false. The maximum amount applicable with us is 250 €, and it only concerns DJI Mini 5 Pro and DJ equipment. If you read anything else somewhere, it's out of date: the table above is authentic.
When she's taken, when she comes back
- It is blocked upon reservation, at the same time as the rental payment.
- It is returned in full within five working days after the return and inspection of the equipment.
- For DJ equipment, it is not collected online: it is left on site at the time of collection.
What can really be learned from it?
The excess is only started in the event of breakage, theft, loss or damage, and only up to the actual cost of the repair or replacement. Only one item is fixed and costed in advance under our conditions: drone propellers, at €10 per pair used (article 10.9). This amount is taken from the deposit, never billed separately.
For everything else, there is no hidden scale. We have detailed what is checked upon return, point by point, in our article on return control.

Security deposit and insurance are not the same thing
Breakage and theft insurance is included in the price of cameras and drones; it is billed separately for the DJ equipment. It does not replace the deductible: in the event of a covered loss, the deductible remains your responsibility and the insurance covers the rest. The exclusions appear in article 9 of the general rental conditions, and it is better to read them before than after.
The mistake not to make when comparing two rental companies
Add the price and the excess. One leaves permanently, the other returns. A €40 rental company with a €250 excess costs you less than a €60 rental company with a €100 excess, regardless of the total displayed when you pay. What you need to compare is the price – ours is published in full here – and the cash that you agree to leave blocked for a week.
If it is this last point that keeps you for a first try, the two devices with a €100 security deposit are the least attractive: GoPro HERO 11 Black and Insta360 X4 .
