Return of materials: what we control

The fear that comes up most often before a first rental is not the price, it’s the return: “what if something was held back from me? ". Here is precisely what is checked when a package returns to the workshop, and what can be billed.
We will not publish breakage rates
Many sites announce a percentage of material returned damaged. We do not publish them, for a simple reason: our fleet is recent and the number of returns is still too low for an average to mean anything. A figure made up of a few dozen rentals would not help you decide, and we prefer to say it rather than invent a statistic.
On the other hand, the control procedure is written, identical for everyone, and we can publish it in full.
Three checks on each return, plus detail
Each order goes through the same three workshop points:
- Batteries and charger — presence and status.
- Accessories included — unfolded one by one, never checked all together.
- Cosmetic condition — scratches, shocks, marks.
The important point is the second. The list is not generic: it is built order line by order line, with the equipment, accessories automatically included and those that you actually ordered. If you're renting three cameras, there are three separate lists, not just one "accessories" box checked blindly.
What is gone is what is expected, and nothing else
The return check is done by difference with what was checked at the start, never with the theoretical content of the command. An accessory that has not left cannot therefore be claimed from you upon return. This is not a commercial promise, it is a constraint of the system: it can only compare with what has actually been prepared and validated before shipment.
The only lump sum of the contract
A single item is costed in advance in our general conditions: €10 per pair of drone propellers used (article 10.9). It is retained on the excess, never billed separately. Everything else – breakage, loss, theft – is retained at the actual cost of repair or replacement, and nothing more. There is no hidden “refurbishment fee” schedule.

Fragile points, device by device
These are not loss statistics, these are the places where attention wanes the fastest:
- 360 cameras. On a Insta360 X4 or X5, the two lenses are curved and protrude from the body of the device: no flat surface spares them, and a camera placed flat on a table places its lens on it. The lens protectors provided can be replaced in two seconds, even between two shots.
- Drones. Propellers are the consumable part of the flight and the only fixed item. The pack contains spare propellers: it's better to change one yourself than to insist on a marked blade.
- The batteries. They leave with their double charger or their triple charging hub, and a Mini 5 Pro takes three. Recounting them at departure and return avoids most of the differences observed.
- The memory card. Each pack contains a 1 TB microSD SanDisk. It is the smallest and most expensive item in the package: it remains in the device, we empty it before returning rather than taking it out.
- Films instax are a consumable: they do not surrender or enter into control.
Return without error
The return is made by Chronopost at a relay point, for €6, or by Click & Collect in Lyon 3, free of charge. The package provided is sized for the equipment and its protection: the packaging method is detailed here.
Once the check has been passed, the excess is refunded in full within five working days – €100, €150 or €250 depending on the device, the complete grid is published here.
