Insta360 X6 or DJI Osmo Pocket 4P: what to rent?

If you can't hold the frame while shooting — you're riding, you're skiing, you're in the middle of the group — take the Insta360 X6 and choose the angle during editing. If you are filming something specific – a face speaking, a dish, a window, a gesture – take the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P and frame it straight away. Both have been in the fleet since 27 August 2026 and can be booked as normal.
At Fox Rider: rent the Insta360 X6 and rent the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P — damage & theft cover included, €200 deposit, delivered 24 h ahead.
Two devices, two decision moments
The X6 is a 360 camera: two opposing lenses record the entire sphere, and the framing is then decided, in the application, by rotating the image as you would turn your head. The 4P is a pocket camera placed on a 3-axis mechanical gimbal, with a double lens engraved “1-INCH” and “3X” and an adjustable screen: the framing is decided during filming, and it is final.
Everything else flows from there. The 360 shifts the work towards editing, since each shot must be extracted from the sphere before existing. The pod moves it towards preparation: what you have framed is what you will get, and there is nothing to make up for. It's not a question of image quality, it's a question of schedule.

We haven't had them yet. This table therefore only includes what the manufacturers publish and what we can verify: no field impressions, no autonomy figures copied from a forum. The measurements will come when the boxes are in the park. One clarification on the purchase-offers row: those two Combos are the manufacturer's offers. For rental, we only offer the 4P as the Creator Combo — the other name for the Vlog Combo — never the Standard Combo, and its accessories (DJI Mic Mini 2 wireless microphone kit, Osmo FrameTap, Osmo mini tripod, Osmo Pocket 4 fill light) are included in the booking, at no extra cost.
The table by plan type
| What you film | The device | For what |
|---|---|---|
| You, in action: mountain biking, skiing, motorcycling, surfing | X6 | You can't aim at the same time |
| A group: meal, wedding, evening | X6 | No one is off-screen, we choose afterwards |
| A face that speaks, an interview | Pocket 4P | The frame remains in place even when walking |
| A dish, a product, a demonstration | Pocket 4P | 3x telephoto lens isolates subject from background |
| A walk in a city, following someone | Pocket 4P | The nacelle absorbs the step, no software |
| A scene you still don't know what will matter | X6 | You catch up during editing what you hadn't planned |
| A tight cutaway on a gesture | Pocket 4P | A 360 crop on a detail loses definition |

Two cases where the choice is not up for debate
When the light goes down. A 360 camera shares the scene between two small sensors: the Insta360 X5 in our fleet has two, 1/1.28 inch. The 4P focuses its focus on a single 1-inch sensor. At dusk or indoors, it is this gap that is visible in the image, not the announced definition. The subject is detailed in our guide to shooting in low light.
When you don't have an editing evening. A 360 file is not a video, it's raw material: as long as no frame has been chosen, there is nothing to publish. If you turn in the material on Monday and publish on Tuesday, the pod gives you back the evening that reframing would have taken you.

What changes when booking
These are two separate rentals: each has its own duration, price schedule and deductible, and taking them together does not merge them into one line. The duration ranges from 1 to 62 days per referral. Breakage and theft insurance is included in the price of the cameras; it is the excess, displayed on each form, which remains due in the event of damage.
If you are still hesitant between the two families, the 360 camera versus action camera comparison sets the scene, and this article deals with the question of purchase. The two files concerned: Insta360 X6 and DJI Osmo Pocket 4P . And if the X6 dates are already taken, the Insta360 X5 covers the 360 requirement.
And if the choice will not settle, they can be taken on the same dates: Renting X6 and Pocket 4P together: the calculation.
