Collecting a pair of speakers in Lyon 3: how it works

An RCF ART 912-A speaker seen from three-quarter and front views, on a white background

Between booking the RCF ART 912-A pair of speakers and returning it, everything happens in two appointments in Lyon 3: the pickup, where the pair is checked with you, then the return at the end of the chosen period, from 1 to 7 days. The pair is never sent by parcel, and it is rented on its own: no subwoofer or mixer comes with it, and a microphone does not plug into it directly.

There is only one pair, so the calendar matters. This guide follows the process in order: booking, contents, appointment, security deposit, transport, return. The speaker rental in Lyon page summarises the offer; here, we detail what happens between booking and return.

Booking: a single pair, from 1 to 7 days

The rental lasts from 1 to 7 days. The price depends on the duration: it is shown on the page as soon as you choose your dates, with no rate to guess.

As there is only one pair in stock, a sunny weekend can be booked well in advance. If your date is set, book first, then sort out the rest of the details.

Before confirming, four questions help avoid unpleasant surprises. Which source will play the music: a phone, a computer, a console? Is there a power outlet near each speaker? How will the pair get to your place? Who will carry it? Answering these before booking saves time on the day of the appointment.

When booking, you tick the connection cables you need. They are included in the rental: a pair of XLR cables and a pair of RCA to RCA cables. Tick the ones that match your source, or both if you are unsure.

What is in the rental, and what is not

The rental includes:

  • two RCF ART 912-A active speakers;
  • two speaker stands;
  • two protective covers;
  • two power cables, for the mains;
  • the connection cables ticked at booking.

Each speaker has a 35 mm stand socket and three handles, on top and on the sides, which makes it easier to grip when loading.

Not included: a microphone, a subwoofer, a mixer, an amplifier (not needed, since the speakers are powered) and a mini-jack cable for a phone. The pair has line-level inputs: a microphone goes through the Pioneer XDJ-RX3 console, with which you can add a Shure SM58 as an option, €5 per microphone per rental (two at most), XLR cable supplied and microphone stand free of charge. Fox Rider does not rent a complete PA system: the pair waits for a source that you bring. The speakers have neither Bluetooth nor a mini-jack input; the article connecting your phone to speakers without Bluetooth explains which cable to plan for.

To mix, the Technics SL-1210 MK2 turntables and the Pioneer XDJ-RX3 console are rented separately, on their own pages. If you rent them for the same dates as the pair, a pack discount applies to the second item; the details are on the page. The Technics have RCA phono outputs and need a phono preamp, for example the PHONO inputs of a console. The sound equipment we rent is gathered on the sound page.

The appointment in Lyon 3

Pickup and return take place in person in Lyon 3, every day, weekends included, from 9 am to 8 pm. The appointment is booked in advance; the exact address is given to you at confirmation. The location is the same whether you come from Villeurbanne, Bron, Vénissieux, Caluire or Écully.

There is no delivery and no shipping: sound equipment is not shipped. To compare the ways of handing over equipment in general, read delivery or pickup in Lyon: which to choose; for this pair, there is only one option, pickup.

On the day of the appointment, bring an ID, a way to pay the security deposit on the spot, a car with a clear boot and, if possible, a second person to help carry. Arrive at the agreed time: the slot is there to check the pair together without rushing.

ID to show at pickup: a copy is kept during the rental, then deleted 30 days after it ends.

The security deposit is paid on the spot, at handover; its amount is shown on the page. It is returned to you after checking on return, if the equipment is brought back in good condition.

Both at departure and at return, the pair is checked together, with you: speakers, stands, covers, power cables and connection cables. You see what you take away, and what you bring back.

Planning for the car

Plan on a car. Each speaker measures 370 × 642 × 363 mm and weighs 19.5 kg, i.e. 39 kg for the pair, without the stands. The covers protect during transport, but they do not make anything lighter: it is better to be two to carry.

Measure your boot before the appointment. Wedging, loading order and how to carry are detailed in transporting a pair of speakers by car.

The big day, then the return

At your place, the speakers go on their stands and plug into the mains, one outlet per speaker, then into your source with an XLR or jack cable. Start with the volume at minimum and raise it gradually, once the music is playing.

The return follows the same principle as the departure: appointment in Lyon 3 between 9 am and 8 pm, speakers packed in their covers, cables included. The check is done together, then the security deposit is returned to you if everything is in good condition.

Remember the list: book early, tick the cables, make an appointment in Lyon 3, bring an ID and a way to pay the security deposit, come by car, plan your music source.
