Equalization (EQ)

The three potentiometers (bass, midrange, treble) are your best allies. For a lounge, lighten the bass slightly so that the sound remains present without bumping, and the voice or conversations remain intelligible.

Transitions

Aim for long, progressive sequences. The “bass swap” technique, which consists of cutting the bass from the incoming song and then bringing it back by cutting the bass from the outgoing song, guarantees a clean and inaudible transition.

The effects

The playlist: a real keystone

A good lounge mix is as much about selection as it is about technique. Think of the progression of the evening as a curve: a gentle start (around 100-115 BPM), a gradual rise if energy allows, then moments of breathing. Vary the atmospheres without breaking the sound unity, and read your audience constantly: they are the ones who dictate the tempo.
