Questions about DJ equipment rental
Ask a questionDJ controller or vinyl turntables: which should I rent?
The Pioneer XDJ-RX3 plays your music from a USB stick, no laptop needed: it is the simplest choice for a party. The Technics SL-1210 MK2 pair is for mixing vinyl; it plugs into the XDJ-RX3's line/phono inputs, cables included.
Do I need a laptop or a mixer with the Pioneer XDJ-RX3?
No, neither. The XDJ-RX3 is all-in-one: two players and a mixer in the same unit, and it plays tracks from a USB stick. The free DJ Set tool analyses the tempo, key and beat grid of your tracks, then prepares the file to copy to the stick; it needs a free Fox Rider account, even without a rental.
What is the DJ booth for?
It is a stand that puts your DJ gear at the right height, facing the room. It rents for €19 a day, with the XDJ-RX3 or the Technics turntables.
Can I rent headphones and a mic?
Yes, as options: Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones (€5) with the XDJ-RX3 or the Technics turntables, and up to two Shure SM58 mics (€5 each) with the XDJ-RX3, XLR cable supplied and mic stand free.
How do I collect the sound system and DJ equipment, in Lyon or around Lyon?
The equipment is collected and returned in person in Lyon (click & collect), every day, by appointment booked in advance; we check it together at hand-over and on return. Around Lyon (Villeurbanne, Caluire, Bron, Vénissieux, Écully, Villefranche-sur-Saône, Vienne, elsewhere in the Rhône) as in the rest of mainland France, delivery and collection at the event venue are done on quote, with the journey charged and an on-screen estimate on this page.
How long can I rent online?
From 1 to 8 days, pick-up day and return day included. Beyond that, or for delivery to the venue, the booking tool sends a quote request.
Is the gear insured, and how does the deposit work?
Yes: the sound equipment is insured against damage and theft by our partner Tulip, like cameras and drones, and the insurance is included in the price, with no paperwork and no extra charge; each item’s page shows whether it is covered. The deposit on DJ equipment is taken as a card pre-authorisation, through a link sent before pick-up or delivery: it is not charged, only held in the event of damage, theft or loss, and released when the gear comes back in the same condition. It amounts to 10% of the replacement value of the sound gear rented, excluding VAT, rounded up to the next multiple of €50, and it is separate from the rental price.
DJ equipment rental in Lyon: XDJ-RX3 or Technics, pick-up and delivery
Looking for DJ equipment rental in Lyon? Fox Rider offers the all-in-one Pioneer XDJ-RX3 controller and the pair of Technics SL-1210 MK2 vinyl turntables, with a DJ booth to set it all on. The gear is not shipped: pick it up free in Lyon 3rd, every day by appointment, or have it delivered to the venue, on quote. Cables are included.
DJ controller or vinyl turntables: which should I rent?
- Pioneer XDJ-RX3: the all-in-one controller plays your music from a USB stick, no laptop needed. It comes in its flight case with RCA, XLR and power cables.
- Technics SL-1210 MK2: the pair of vinyl turntables, Ortofon Concorde Mix cartridges fitted, two flight cases, RCA cables, ground wires and power cables.
- DJ booth: the stand that brings the controller or the turntables up to height, facing the room.
A Sony WH-1000XM3 headset can be rented as an option with either. For a vinyl night, our guide choosing, setting up and mixing on turntables walks you through the set-up.
Do I need a mixer?
No: the Pioneer XDJ-RX3 combines two players and a two-channel mixer in a single unit, and it plays your music from a USB stick. Fox Rider does not rent a separate mixer. The Technics SL-1210 MK2 vinyl turntables plug into the two PHONO inputs of the XDJ-RX3, which then acts as the mixer: a standalone DJ controller is enough for a party.
Preparing your USB stick for the XDJ-RX3
The free DJ Set tool analyses the tempo, key and beat grid of your tracks, then prepares a ZIP file to copy to the stick the Pioneer XDJ-RX3 reads. It needs a free Fox Rider account, even without a rental. Our article preparing your rekordbox USB stick gives the manual method. The security deposit is taken as a card imprint, not charged, and breakage and theft cover is included in the rental price for gear marked “Covered for damage and theft”.
Pick-up in Lyon 3rd, or DJ gear delivered around Lyon
At pick-up, by appointment from 9 am to 8 pm, the gear is plugged in and checked with you; your original ID document is required. If you would rather not come, in Villeurbanne, Caluire, Bron, Vénissieux or elsewhere around Lyon, Fox Rider delivers and collects the gear at the venue, in mainland France, on quote, with the journey charged: the screen shows an estimate, the quote sets the price.
Decks and speakers for the same dates
To get a room dancing, add the pair of RCF ART 912-A speakers or a Soundboks 4: see speaker rental. Rented for the same dates, sound gear gets the multi-item discount from the second piece; the Pack DJ L and the Pack DJ XL, the latter with the RCF SUB 15-AX subwoofer, already combine them, with booth and turntables as options.
